Does HGH Slow Aging?

Human growth hormone (HGH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in growth, metabolism, and body composition. Some prominent researchers believe that HGH therapy in aging adults can help slow the aging process.

Of course, it is only one study, but if we chose to we could list many more positive health studies on human growth hormone.  We would be hard-pressed to find any legitimate human growth hormone research, when administered in normal physiological human doses, offering any negative patient outcomes, excluding those with cancer.

Who requires HGH?

Human growth hormone (HGH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in growth and development. Average Growth Hormone Decline with Age

Many Anti-Aging clinics in the United States do not prescribe HGH therapy, or they prescribe other homeopathic remedies or peptides which don’t offer the same effect as bioidentical growth hormone. Growth Hormone Blood Tests

There are several methods that endocrinologists (doctors who specialize in hormone disorders) use to test for growth hormone (GH) levels in the body.

Some of these methods include:

  1. IGF-1 Blood test: This is the most common method for measuring GH levels. A healthcare provider will take a blood sample and send it to a laboratory for analysis.
  2. Stimulation test: This test involves administering a substance (such as arginine or clonidine) that stimulates GH production, and then measuring the GH levels in the blood before and after the stimulation.
  3. Suppression test: This test involves administering a substance (such as glucose) that suppresses GH production, and then measuring the GH levels in the blood before and after the suppression.
  4. GH-releasing hormone (GHRH) plus arginine test: This test involves administering GHRH, which stimulates GH production, and arginine, an amino acid that enhances the effects of GHRH. GH levels in the blood are then measured before and after the administration of the substances.

After 1 year of treatment, researchers observed a reduction of 1.5 years in age from the baseline.
