More recently, Dr. Fahy’s research discovered important aspects of the results of growth hormone injections. That is, in the research he and his colleagues conducted and published in 2019, they observed a reversal in epigenetic (biological) age in those undergoing HGH therapy.

Biological age and chronological age are two different ways of looking at a person’s age. Chronological age simply refers to the number of years that have passed since a person’s birth. It is the age we typically think of when someone asks, “How old are you?” However, biological age takes into account the physiological condition of a person’s body and how well it is aging.
The concept of biological age is based on the idea that individuals can age at different rates, and some people may have a body that is “older” or “younger” than their actual chronological age. This difference in aging can be influenced by various factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors.
The Horvath clock is a method developed by Dr. Steve Horvath, a professor of human genetics and biostatistics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He developed a way to measure biological age by analyzing DNA methylation patterns, which are chemical modifications that occur in our DNA as we age.
Dr. Horvath studied a vast amount of DNA methylation data from various tissues and individuals of different ages. He discovered that certain patterns of DNA methylation change predictably with age, and he developed an algorithm based on these patterns to estimate biological age. This algorithm became known as the Horvath clock.
To use the Horvath clock, researchers collect a sample of DNA, typically from a person’s blood or saliva. They then analyze the DNA methylation patterns using specialized techniques and compare them to the reference data from the Horvath clock. The algorithm calculates a biological age estimate based on the patterns observed in the sample.
The resulting biological age estimate can provide insights into a person’s overall health and aging process. For example, if someone’s biological age is higher than their chronological age, it suggests that their body may be aging faster than expected. On the other hand, if their biological age is lower, it implies that their body may be aging more slowly or more healthily.
