HGH to Lose Weight Protocols
When HGH is prescribed for an HGH replacement therapy program, weight loss will not be the reason nor the main concern of your physician. That said, our goal for all patients is to have an optimal body mass index and healthy blood biomarkers.
There are many weight loss protocols that have been proven very effective in recent years. Intermittent fasting, fasting-mimicking, and ketogenic dieting have all become popular over the past few years as more research investigation has been undertaken in this area. More evidence is pointing to excessive insulin and insulin resistance in most of us on the standard American diet, which is slowing or resisting our ability to lose weight.
This problem creates a form of metabolic resistance to carbohydrates, especially those found in processed foods.
In certain individuals that find it extremely difficult to lose weight due to metabolic resistance, they will generally lose fat best if they eat whole foods, limit calories to 1,000-1,700 per day, and keep carbohydrate intake near 20 grams per day.
If calories are kept within the range mentioned above, and carbohydrates are limited to whole food low glycemic carbs, limited to a net carb intake of 20-30 grams per day, fat loss should occur while on HGH replacement therapy.
If fat loss still remains difficult to achieve, it is maybe necessary to speak with our doctors about the possibility of metformin and have your thyroid checked. Those patients with hypothyroidism may need to have additional treatment.
HGH Injection Frequency for Fat Loss
Most individuals prescribed HGH will generally be on a 4-day or 5-day injection schedule per week. Injections are generally recommended in the evening time based on research.
However, once weight loss is achieved, and patients are at a healthy body-fat percentage HGH injection frequency can be scaled back in many situations. Sometimes to just 3-days per week without any noticeable body-composition related to fat. Once body-fat is in a healthy range, the longevity diet program is what patients are most likely to benefit from. At least from published research related to age-related biomarkers.
If this is done, many patients will save money with only a 3-day injection protocol.
Yes, that’s right. Those who have lost enough weight and have a low percentage of body-fat can actually scale back the injection frequency of HGH and save a ton of money without losing the benefit of HGH replacement therapy.
So how does one maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI), or more precisely, a healthy body-fat percentage with healthy biomarkers?
According to the research… continue reading.

HGH for FAT Loss Protocols, cont...
Assuming those who have been enjoying the benefit of taking HGH to lose weight as part of their prescribed HGH replacement protocol, the best approach is to follow three of the following weight-loss protocols
Note: Some of these are actually be considered longevity diet protocols at leading research institutions like the University of California.
- Intermittent fasting like the 16:8 diet. (Better to view this more as time-restricted feeding).
- The ketogenic diet or modified-keto / modified Atkins diet (keep daily carbs <+ ~ 20 grams per day).
- A Fasting Mimicking Diet (essentially keto-like) developed by USC researcher Valter Longo, Ph.D.
Essentially, all the above diets are enhancements made to the original Atkins protocol (or before Atkins the original ‘Banting’s Letter on Corpulence’, written just before the Civil War back in the 1860s). Yes, it’s taken modern research scientists more than 150 years to finally realize a low-carbohydrate metabolic state is necessary to control blood-sugars and reverse common age-related metabolic diseases due to obesity, insulin resistance, and carbohydrate intolerance.
No one is suggesting a poorly crafted and nutritionally unhealthy (old-school) Atkins Diet is suited for longevity and healthy weight loss while undergoing HGH replacement therapy. Although it is true the old way may still achieve a short-term benefit of weight loss and can improve biomarkers in the short-term, it most likely won’t add years to your life. And for many who don’t want to eat cheese, eggs, and oils, there are new and incredibly nutritionally-rich alternatives.
These new and more healthy alternatives can quickly and help patients reach a healthy state of nutritional ketosis shown to mimic the longevity advantages of calorie restriction.
Note: Calorie restriction has been shown in many research studies but has never been done on humans. That said, there is a pretty good understanding among scientists on specific pathways that increase longevity in lab animals, mammals, and primates. Most of the attention is focussing on the following areas related to regenerative and longevity medicine:
- Hormone optimization (remains controversial and is sensationalized by media).
- Insulin (blood-sugar / insulin control)
- Ketone bodies and ketosis
- Intermittent fasting and fasting-mimicking.
- Metformin (may help to signal in the AMPK axis in a beneficial manner).
Essentially, the evidence seems to indicate that in some strange way, most organisms seem to do better when experiencing periodic short cycles of anabolism and catabolism. In doing so, the body tends to go through a house-cleaning process which sort of touches on each one of the items mentioned above.
No one is suggesting that anyone item on the list is the key. Nor is it an attempt to claim that the list is comprehensive. They are simply pathways and biomarkers scientists love to use in much the same way a computer-internet programmer likes to use ‘canonical‘.
The work that modern scientists are doing like David Sinclair, Valter Longo, Dom D’Agostino, Jeff Volek, Thomas Seyfried, Jason Fung, and even Rudman is admirable. Before we could draw blood, look at molecules through a microscope, get a DNA test, or anything else, we seemed to know obese sloths died sooner than the lean and strong individuals, on average, under most conditions.
With that said, there are always extreme cases. For instance, I would not want to be a lean and mean Greek God with a bodybuilder physique if all I had to eat for 300 days is nothing and water. I would rather be a very obese man. As the longest fast in history recorded was 362 days. If you need to live 362 days without food and just water, your genes will be better off at surviving to the next generation by being really obese.
The evidence currently health and longevity appear to point to most of us entering into a state of nutritional-ketosis cyclically. How often? That really depends on the person, and it is why you should work with a doctor knowledgeable in the nutritional modalities outlined above.
As mentioned above, there are extreme cases and everything in between. A normal distribution curve or bell curve of all shapes, sizes, and conditions. The good news is we have more tools in our tool chest than ever before.
One program does not suit everyone all the time. A thin person is different than an obese person. A pre-existing medical condition must be taken into consideration. Whenever embarking on the programs mentioned, one should always seek the advice of their physician. Their program should be monitored by a physician.

Initial programs of 90-days minimum are generally recommended to observe measurable improvements in body composition, fat loss, energy levels, and exercise intensity. We aim to see improvements in age-related chronic disease markers and longevity markers when the proper lifestyle of diet and exercise is followed once deficiencies are improved.
U.S. HGH Cost - too expensive!
Convenient Tijuana treatment center. Just 25 minutes south of San Diego. Same medication by the same manufacturers.
Typically a growth hormone therapy program will cost patients seeking treatment in the Sacramento area $1,300 to over $2,000 per month. Premium HGH like the pre-filled Norditropin HGH Pen may even be more expensive.
For premium brand HGH like Norditropin by Novo Nordisk, a typical adult patient will be looking at nearly $2000 monthly in the Sacramento metro area. See the recent US price level for HGH directly below.
HGH Price Comparison
U.S. HGH Pricing Vs. Anti-Aging and Wellness
CVS RX Norditropin HGH $1,312.18
Anti-Aging and Wellness HGH $550.00
How Much Does Growth Hormone Cost in Costa Rica and Mexico?
The rate for a Norditropin HGH pen which contains 10MG and 30IU of treatment is between $450-$550. For many undergoing HGH therapy as part of an HGH deficiency and age management program in the US, this is one-third the amount paid in the U.S.
The reason HGH is nearly 3-times more expensive in the United States than in Mexico and Costa Rica is the result of pricing models created by big pharma for a name-brand prescription drug sold in the USA. There is no difference in the medication. The medications are the same and from the same manufacturers.
How Does One Qualify for HGH Therapy?
There are many factors that go into determining if HGH therapy is a good option for adult patients. Unfortunately for those living in the USA, it’s more determined by the size of the person’s pocketbook. Many among the rich and famous are already using HGH for their own medical lifestyle choices. Some of these people include Suzanne Somers, Sylvester Stallone, and billionaire tech entrepreneur Peter Thiel.
To qualify for a deficiency, patients must undergo comprehensive blood testing, a medical examination, and submit a detailed medical intake questionnaire. Then upon meeting one of our licensed medical professionals, an appropriate age management lifestyle program can be discussed based on your baselines.
Should I Take Metformin on HGH Therapy?
Metformin is the first line of treatment for adult-onset diabetes and is used in some cases for prediabetics. Some doctors may use it as a weight-loss medication. It is currently being studied for anti-aging purposes by leading scientists. See <TAMES Clinical Trials> study.
Famous Harvard anti-aging researcher David Sinclair (Comments on Tom Bilyeu YouTube channel) and others are taking metformin for age management, not as a diabetic medication.
Dr. Sinclair also supplements with NAD+ (NMN) for its benefits related to longevity and mitochondrial wellness.
Anti-Aging and epigenetics (Understanding Epigenetics NIH). Recently a small research study was published regarding key aging biomarkers being reversed by 2 years or more after taking HGH and Metformin over 12 months <Aging Cell – Reversal of Aging>, [Aging Cell – Reversal of Aging pdf].
We do not prescribe Metformin for anti-aging purposes. However, we do follow evidence-based research related to the standard American diet and its influence on glycemic variability and proper glucose control.
Let’s face it, approximately 70% of the population is overweight or obese. Most of these patients are potentially near diabetic (prediabetic) or will be within a matter of 10-15 years.
Reference this one Japanese study on forecasting type II diabetes 10 years in advance. Other research going all the way back to the 1970s suggests the same thing. Detection of Diabetes In Situ, by Dr. Kraft, MD.
We approach health and wellness through integrative medicine. Our physicians pay close attention to various blood biomarkers which may indicate poor glucose control. In those instances, we will assess each individual’s health, and if they should undergo a strict lifestyle modification program. In some cases, Metformin may be a good option for the patient.
Is it Legal for Me to Take HGH?
Our HGH programs are prescribed by licensed physicians in the US and abroad who use best practices for evaluating, prescribing and treating patients with HGH.
Our priority is on patient safety and optimal wellness. We do comprehensive blood testing, complete medical intake, and in-clinic exams. Once it is determined between the patient and their doctor that growth hormone therapy can be prescribed, we continue to monitor, re-examine, and adjust protocols periodically to ensure proper treatment dosages, patient safety, and treatment efficacy.
Is HGH for Sale? Can I Buy HGH?
No, absolutely not. HGH is available by prescription only. It is very rare for USA-based insurance companies to authorize reimbursement for HGH prescriptions. So, each patient will pay for their HGH therapy as an out-of-pocket medical expense, whether in the United States or at one of our international treatment centers.
We strongly discourage patients from buying HGH from an international online pharmacy. Much of the growth hormone bought in this manner is likely counterfeit or not pharmaceutical grade HGH.
Much of the generic HGH sold on the street is not 100% bioidentical. The risk of taking that form of HGH is your body may recognize it as a foreign substance leading to antibody resistance. Your body can build a tolerance to it if it is not pharmaceutical grade HGH. Always use brand-name pharmaceutical grade HGH for any type of growth hormone therapy.
We only prescribe bioidentical growth hormone(s) from the leading pharmaceutical companies. These include companies like:
Growth Hormone and Anti-Aging
A new but small 2019 HGH / Metformin research study published in the Aging Cell journal has been making headlines in the news. Probably not since the landmark HGH study conducted by Dr. Rudman in 1990, has a single growth hormone study received so much buzz.
Let’s first step back in time to the Dr. Rudman study released in 1990. This is when famous actors and actresses like Sylvester Stallone and Suzanne Somers began announcing their personal use of human growth hormone and other bioidentical hormones for age management purposes. Essentially the Rudman study determined the following <Click here>:
- Men 61-80 years old injected HGH daily over a 6-month period.
- No major adjustment to lifestyle was enforced.
- Improved lean muscle mass of approximately 8.8% was measured.
- The reduction of body fat was reduced by almost 15%, while their overall weight remained the same.
- Bone density increased by 7% or more.
- Skin thickness increased by over 7%.

Now, researchers in California have observed key aging markers by reversing age by almost 3 years.
These anti-aging therapies and protocols are unproven nor have they been evaluated by the FDA. This information is educational in nature. Always seek the advice of your physician before considering if this type of therapy is something you should consider for yourself.
Is HGH from Mexico & Costa Rica Safe?
When HGH is prescribed by one of our doctors in the US, Costa Rica, or Mexico, the medication is safe. It is the same brand that is sold in the USA. All our HGH prescriptions come from major pharmaceutical companies. They come from registered pharmacies or distributors in their respective countries.
What's the Most Popular HGH Brand and Its Cost?
Norditropin is the most popular and most prescribed brand of HGH. It is manufactured by Novo Nordisk. The company is headquartered in Denmark. Novo Nordisk is a global leader in diabetic and human growth hormone medications.
When should HGH be Prescribed?
This video is a reasonable argument related to the replenishment of HGH replacement therapy in adults.
Dr. Klatz of the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine discusses the modest and appropriate replenishment of HGH deficiencies just as one would do for thyroid, estrogen, testosterone or any other deficiency.
Dr. Klatz discusses how it is a safe therapy and has been used safely for more than 50 years throughout the world.
HGH is a naturally occurring hormone produced within the brain by the pituitary gland.

The current rate for the Norditropin HGH Pen in Tijuana Mexico typically runs 550.00 USD.
The current rate for the Norditropin HGH Pen in Costa Rica typically runs $550.00 USD.

Yes, with the proper paperwork and a prescription. You need a doctor’s prescription and a letter if your medication is outside its original package. The medication must be for personal use. The rule of thumb is approximately 90-days of treatment. The quantity of treatment will vary depending on the patient.

We get this question a lot from prospective patients looking to save on HGH therapy. No country is immune to fraud, not even the United States. With that said, this is a new world we live in today. With social media and the internet, more information is accessible to the public than ever before.
We do our best to communicate transparently with prospective patients and by providing information over the internet and through print media. We’ve advertised in American Way Magazine on American Airlines and have done radio and television interviews.
We are an international medical tourism group that concentrates on providing high-level medical services to help Americans and Canadians shop for more affordable medical care.
Our treatment plans are commonplace among the powerful, rich and famous in the United States. Unfortunately, for many Americans, they remain out of reach due to affordability, unless they look for alternatives such as ours.
We only prescribe the same FDA approved pharmaceutical HGH brands that you find in the United States. The only difference is the USA must pay 2 or 3 times the price. Why? Because of big pharma’s global pricing models and the problematic insurance model which exists in the United States. Both Republicans and Democrats have demonized big pharma for this practice, but nothing ever gets done.
Recently, some states have begun to take action. Utah recently passed “Right to Shop” legislation which allows its state government-insured employees to buy legally certain lower-cost prescription medications in Tijuana Mexico. It is widely reported in some of the press. Other states like Florida are looking at similar legislation: <Click here>.
Mexico has very good control of their legal prescription drug programs. We work closely with only the leading pharmaceutical companies. The process has a complete and safe chain of custody when it comes to name-brand prescription pharmaceuticals.
There is no evidence HGH causes cancer. Sugar and the standard American diet of processed foods may have a much higher association with cancer than HGH. However, HGH is the master growth hormone. It should not be abused. If one has cancer, it would not be a good decision to promote growth.
Fear mongering and demonization is not a solution to our epidemic of chronic disease. HGH, like any bioidentical natural hormone, is a tool. It must be used under the supervision of a medical professional. HGH should not be abused. It should be used to optimize deficiencies.
For those on HGH therapy, most patients should embrace additional lifestyle changes as well. The human body does best when it experiences both anabolic (growth) and catabolic (loss) states regularly. Many health care professionals have only recently become aware of the need to go through brief periods of catabolism. Essentially this is a type of fasted state which helps induce cellular regeneration.
Some of the topics we can discuss with patients include proper lifestyle and dieting which are anti-aging and anti-cancer in theory. These include intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating, ketogenic dieting among many others. Since each of these have their pros and cons, we prefer to work with each patient individually to develop the best approach suitable to the patient.
On PubMed you can find the study:
Research Centre for Endocrinology and Metabolism, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Göteborg, Sweden.
- Point 1: The association of several risk factors including, obesity, dyslipoproteinemia, hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance and hypertension with Type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus and myocardial infarction has long been known and has been termed the “metabolic syndrome”.
- Point 2: Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular morbidity is the mass of intraabdominal fat. Striking similarities exist between the metabolic syndrome and untreated growth hormone (GH) deficiency in adults.
- Point 3: The main association is abdominal/visceral obesity and insulin resistance. Other features common to both conditions are premature atherosclerosis and increased mortality from cardiovascular diseases. These similarities indicate that undetectable and low levels of GH may be of importance in the metabolic aberrations observed in both these conditions.
- Point 4: Nine months of GH treatment reduced their total body fat and resulted in a specific and a marked decrease in both abdominal subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue. Moreover, insulin sensitivity improved and serum concentrations of total cholesterol and triglyceride decreased. Diastolic blood pressure also decreased. The finding that GH replacement in men with abdominal obesity can diminish the negative metabolic consequences of visceral obesity suggests that low levels of this hormone are of importance for the metabolic aberrations associated with visceral/abdominal obesity.

It is important to note that there is also conflicting evidence regarding growth hormone and insulin resistance. But in recent years, a better understanding of metabolism, in general, helps us understand the flaws in prior conflicting studies with growth hormone and insulin resistance.
With more knowledge about intermittent fasting, ketogenic dieting, and fasting-mimicking dieting, and their role at successfully managing hyperglycemia, the role of carbohydrates and sugar metabolism is most likely more of a factor. By managing post-prandial glucose following meals using a $30 glucose meter, most individuals can eat a whole food diet and limit carbohydrate intake at a level that prevents excessive glucose, and significantly improves energy metabolism.
Dr. Jason Fung and others have lectured about this topic frequently. Many of his videos can be viewed on YouTube. They are very informative with regard to the standard American diet and its role in metabolic syndrome.
See the following YouTube video for more information:
Jason Fung, MD:
The combination of proper dietary protocols with HGH is the way future research studies should be designed for reversing metabolic syndrome in patients.
Many women are concerned HGH replacement therapy will cause them to become too muscular. We prescribe HGH replacement only within the normal physiological range. HGH is not a miracle drug that produces extreme muscle mass. If taken properly, there should be no major negative side-effects.
When we prescribe HGH, we follow up with patients and do blood testing. The goal is to treat so levels are within the upper physiological range of the optimal zone.
The Dr. Rudman HGH study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that HGH helped improve body composition and muscle mass in aging men. The study looked at men from 61 years of age to 81 years. They were given HGH therapy for 6 months. After the 6 month period, the average muscle gained was 8.8%. Fatloss was almost 15%.

For years clinics were ridiculed for using the term anti-aging. Especially if there was any relationship to human growth hormone replacement therapy. HGH is not an anti-aging drug per se. Anti-Aging is not fully defined.
Reversing chronological age is impossible. However, biological aging is different than chronological aging and there is much debate about what constitutes biological age.
Scientists like Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard and others have repeatedly replicated longevity using animals. Most of these animals studied have very similar metabolic pathways as humans.
More recently, HGH was involved in a small 2019 anti-aging study. The study was published claiming 1 year on HGH, metformin, and DHEA resulted in an average reduction in epigenetic age of 2-2.5 years. <Download Study pdf>.
You may also be interested in the 1990 HGH research study by Dr. Rudman published in the New England Journal of Medicine. It looked at men from age 61-81 over 6-months on HGH therapy. This is what they found:
- Fatloss 14.4% (important for aging metabolism and longevity)
- Lean muscle mass increased by 8.8% (important for avoiding sarcopenia)
- Bone density increased by 1.7% (important for the avoidance of osteoporosis, bone tissue damage, hips, knees, etc.)
- Skin thickness increase by 7.1% (Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles)

Google has been a leader for so long that many search engine optimization people have gamed their algorithms. In order to offset that Google has implemented newer criteria in 2019 called “EAT.” EAT is an acronym for:
- Expertise — How knowledgeable the site owner or content author is on the subject matter they talk about. This is especially important for the aforementioned YMYL sites, not so much for gossip websites or similar.
- Authoritativeness — The credibility of the website publishing the content. This includes any credentials, outside reviews, testimonials etc.
- Trustworthiness — Examines how trustworthy the site in question is. It means overall site quality and especially factors like site security.
Basically one gets to see a lot of Mayo Clinic dogma demonizing HGH for bodybuilding or old outdated New York Times articles talking about old news. Few dissenting views or alternative views are seen on the first pages of Google Search, but they should be. When you search Duckduckgo or Bing, you get more up-to-date variety.
from people that are making a positive difference in biotech like Peter Thiel and others. If the point of view is unconventional, then you better have very high authority backlinks. Usually, this can be done simply by aligning with a few old webmasters that operate various websites that link to the website.
With that said, when the other search engines are used for alternative medical therapies, you will get a much richer mix of good content related to what you are searching for.
We always recommend more than one source or opinion before taking a medical decision. That means getting your sources for more than one search engine.
