How the PShot Works

The P Shot is an extension of a type of popular regenerative cellular therapy called platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Platelet-rich plasma is autologous blood with concentrations of platelets well beyond normal baseline levels, which includes 7 or more growth factors. These growth factors are the body’s own normal regenerative healing factors, concentrated.

At baseline levels, platelets function as a natural reservoir for growth factors including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I).

Patients undergoing the P-shot will have between 30mL and 60mL of blood drawn by their doctor or nurse. The blood is then placed in a harvesting centrifuge and spun for a specific amount of time. This process separates normal blood, so the growth factors can be isolated, condensed, and re-injected into the area regeneration of tissue is desired.

The doctor uses a very small syringe to inject the platelet-rich plasma into the corpus cavernosum. This is the area most specific to vascular function leading to an erection. Research reveals PRP exerts effects through many downstream events releasing growth factors and other bioactive factors.

Thus far, most studies on PRP and ED have been conducted on animal models. However, it is notable that regenerative healing is similar among species. Anecdotal evidence and testimonials by many patients indicate PRP is a reasonable option for many point-of-care cellular-based regenerative therapies, including erectile enhancement.

PRP for Nerve and Vascular Function

PRP has shown in studies to improve both nerve and vascular function. As stated before, PRP includes many beneficial cells such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Studies have shown tremendous benefits in nerve function in animal studies. PRP is a very safe procedure.
